Digital Art Photography,"1909 Antonio LoPresto Saloon and Hotel" by Barbara Chichester. Antonio LoPresto Building was built as an Arcade Hotel & Saloon in Aguilar Colorado, 1909 (Coal Mining Era). Tony LoPresto - Akron Pioneer Press - December 5, 1919 - The body of the unidentified man, murdered several months ago, which was found by three women strolling across the prairies near Pueblo, is believed to be that of Tony LoPresto, 35 years old, a former saloonkeeper of Aguilar, Colo., who disappeared last January after threats of blackmail had been made to him. The mystery of Tony LoPresto goes on. Town of Aguilar First settled in 1861, it was known as "San Antonio Plaza", the settlement was mainly a trading post for Native and Spanish Americans. In 1878 the railroad came through the town opening the area to coal mining and expanding opportunities for the ranches, farms and encouraging other business to move into the area, and in 1894 the Town of Aguilar was incorporated. The owner of the land on where the town now stands was state legislator J. Ramon Aguilar. The town was named for him in 1888 and in 1894 the Town of Aguilar was incorporated.
